Day 01 SAGAING - AVA (L/D)

We embark the ship at Sagaing Jetty at around 10:30 am and start cruising after half an hour. Enjoy your welcome cocktail which then followed by lunch.

In the afternoon, we enjoy an interesting tour around Ava by a horse carriage exploring the key sites of this ancient city: the 200 - year - old teak monastery - Bagaya Kyaung, the 27 – meter - high Nanmyin watchtower and the Yadana Hsemee pagoda complex. 

We serve dinner onboard and stay overnight near a river village.

Day 02 MONYWA (B/L/D)

We spend this whole day today exploring the land of Monywa. First, we take a coach drive about 90 minutes to get to Monywa and visit the Hpowindaung cave. This site is well-known for a great number of Buddha Statues placed in the niches of the wall and the beautiful ancient mural paintings. After that, we have lunch at a famous local restaurant in Win Unity Hotel. The next spot will absolutely make you surprise, we get to the incredible Sambuddhai Kat Kyaw pagoda, where contains more than 500,000 Buddha statues.

Then we come back to Myin Mu after a busy sightseeing day and moor at the river Bank for a night.

Day 03 YANDABO - RIVER VILLAGE (B/L/D)

The pottery village of Yandabo is a perfect place to take a walk. Here, you will have a chance to learn more about the pottery – making procedures as well as see many beautiful ceramic products.

The village is also well - known for marking a historical event where the first Anglo - Burmese war ended by the peace treaty signed in 1826. 

Then, we sail downstream and have lunch onboard.

In the afternoon, we stop and visit a riverside village after a long day cruising.

Back onboard for dinner which will then followed by a Puppet Show.

Day 04 SALAY (B)

After breakfast, we go ashore at Salay Jetty at around 9:00 am.

After that, we return to the ship and keep sailing to Sagaing for disembarkation.

We go ashore at 12:30 PM at Sagaging Jetty.

Day 01 BAGAN (L/D)

Embark the ship at Bagan Aye Yar jetty at 11:30am and start cruising after half an hour.

We promise an interesting afternoon excursion when approach a typical riverside village in the late afternoon.

Day 02 YANDABO (B/L/D)

Yandabo - a lovely village located on the bank of the Irrawaddy river is an interesting place to visit. Not only famous for the pottery making, Yandabo is also known as the place where the Peace Treaty was signed to end to 1st Anglo – Burmese war.  

We will pay a visit to a workshop and a regional monastery.

The ship drops the anchor in the village nearby (Ywar Thit Gyi or Pauk Myaing Pauk Taw) which is few miles away from Ava Bridge.

Day 03 MANDALAY (B)

Enjoy the sunrise in Mandalay is believed to be one of the most unforgettable moments in the whole journey. After breakfast, get off at Sagaing Jetty (Thursday only) or Gawein jetty (Sunday Only) at around 09.30am

Day 01 MANDALAY - MINGUN (L/D)

From 11:30 - 12:00 AM, we embark at Gawein pier (11.30-12.00 hrs) and enjoy the welcoming lunch and cocktail. We travel upstream to visit Mingun, including the Mingun Bell – the world’s biggest working bell to date, the massive, yet unfinished Mingun Pagoda, and the Mingun Old People’s Home.

We stay the night at Mandalay.

Day 02 MANDALAY - AMARAPURA (B/L/D)

We take an exploration around Mandalay centre, including Mandalay Hill which has spiral staircases leading to the paranomic views of the city, Kuthodaw Paya preserving the largest book in the world and Shwenandaw monastery featuring the intricate wood works. We also visit various workshops including golf-leaf, tapestry, woodcarving, marble-carving, and bronze-casting.

After the visit, we return to the cruise to have lunch. In the afternoon, we proceed to visit Mahamuni Pagoda and the ancient capital of Amarapura. We also visit a traditional silk workshop, then behold the sunset at the 1.2-kilometer U Bein Bridge – the longest teak bridge in the world

We have dinner on cruise and stay the on cruise at midstream between Sagaing and Mandalay.

Day 03 SAGAING - AVA (B/L/D)

We take a trip to Sagaing Hill filled with many monasteries and pagodas full of spiritual arts and woodcarvings. We then return to the cruise to have lunch. Later on, we head to the ancient capital of Burmese Kingdom (1364 – 1841) – Ava and enjoy a delightful horse cart ride visiting the gorgeous 200-year-old teak monastery of Bagaya Kyaung, then the 27-meter-height Nanmyin watchtower and the Me Nu Ok Kyaung monastery.

We have dinner on cruise, then enjoy the theatre and dance performance on the sundeck. We stay the night near a river village.

In the early morning, we take a 1.5-hour drive to Monywa via coach. Here, we will have an expedition section at Hpowindaung and Shwebadaung Caves where numerous Buddha statues kept inside along with fantastic paintings which can be traced back from 14th to 18th  century. We have lunch at Win Unity Hotel’s restaurant in Monywa. After that, we get to the magnificient pagoda of Sambuddhai Kat Kyaw preserving approximately 500,000 Buddha images. Afterwards, we take a 1.5-hour drive to Myin Mu pier where we back to the cruise.

We have dinner on cruise and stay the night near Myin Mu.

Day 05 YANDABO (B/L/D)

In the morning, we reach Yandabo, well known for both its special potteries craftsmanship and its historical aspect. In 1826, the Royal Burma and British Burma signed the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese War here. We move on to several potteries workshops, the school, and the monastery. Later on, we travel downstream and have lunch on cruise. We will take a walk around Visit Shwe Pyi Thar village. 

We have dinner on cruise stay the night at mid-river.

Day 06 SALAY - BAGAN (B/L/D)

Today, we start late with a visit to Salay where is home to beautiful teak architecture and colonial buildings. Salay House is our first stop - an old warehouse of a Bristish company. Then, we take a leisure walk around the town to the local market exploring the local routine. Later, we pay a visit to the so - called Crown Prince House of Mandalay - Yoke Soun Kyaung Taw Gyi monastery for the elaborated woodcarvings and artifacts. Continue our sightseeing through some notable monuments of Bagan era en - route to Mann Paya - a pagoda with a stunning lacquer Buddha image. Back to the ship for lunch.

This afternoon, we spend exploring Bagan's temples including Gubyaukgyi temple where you can find many ancient mural paintings dated back to the 12th century as well as sand painting displayed by local artists; the nearby Myazedi stupa is also a must - see with the high value of both linguistic and historical. After that, we pay a visit to a local workshop to experience the making of lacquerware.

Day 07 BAGAN (B/L/D)

Our first stop today is the gilded Shwezigon pagoda built during the ruling of King Anawrahta where is said to preserve a bone and tooth of the Buddha. Then, we move to a local market selling a wide range of local produces such as longyis, rattan products and wood carvings. Next, you will have a chance to catch some amazing pictures at Thatbyinnyu Pagoda. Return the ship for lunch. 

*A hot air balloon ride over Bagan is offered this morning at an additional cost and advanced booking.

In the afternoon, we head to visit Htilominlo temple -  the highest one in the temple plain. It is also well - known for having the finest plaster carvings and mural paintings. Then a visit to the most beautiful temple - Ananda will complete your trip in Bagan. We also make a stop at Dhammanyangyi pagoda for a great chance for photography. Afterwards, proceed to Bagan Viewing Hill to enjoy the magnificent sunset over the ancient city. Back to the ship.

Dinner will be served on board. Drop the anchor overnight in Bagan.

Day 01 BAGAN - SALAY (L/D)

We will get on the ship at Koe Lone Ye Kin Pier at 11:00am and the ship will set off in next 30 minutes. Let's enjoy your welcome cocktail in the saloon. You will have lunch on board.

In the afternoon, we will take a walk at Salay where is small town having charming 19th century teak monasteries and buildings with British colonial style. First, we will discover the Salay House located on the riverside of the Irrawaddy. Then, we will walk along Strand Street and visit the local market. Yoke Soun Kyaung Taw Gyi wooden monastery is our next spot to visit. This monastery was designed as the duplicate of Crown Prince House of Mandalay. On the way to visit Mann Paya, we can also see some beautiful monuments built from era of Bagan. 

After that, we will return to the ship while you can contemplate some beautiful colonial buildings of Salay on the the way back.

Day 02 BAGAN (B/L/D)

In the morning we will take a tour around Bagan. The tour will begin with the first spot, Shwezigon Pagoda. It is said to be place which preserved a bone and tooth of Gautama Buddha. Next, we will visit the magnificent Htilominlo built by King Htilominlo. Then, Thatbyinnyu Pagoda is the spot we will take a look and take photos before coming back to the ship for lunch.

In the afternon, we keep discovering Bagan by visiting Gubyaukgyi Temple where owns paintings believed to exist in the early 12 century. We will also see paintings drawn from sands by local artists. Then, we will visit Myazedi Stupa. The tour will be unfinished if we don't pay a visit to Ananda Temple, one of the most Bagan's beautiful temples. After that, we will visit Dhammayan Gyi Pagoda and take photos. Finally, we will complete the tour today by watching sunset from Bagan Viewing Hill.

We come back to the ship and have dinner on board.

Day 03 BAGAN - RIVER VILLAGE (B/L/D)

We take a trip around the Bagan markets featuring fabric, woodcarvings, longyis, and ratten products. We also get to visit a workshop and watch the ancient lacquerware craftsmanship. We can choose from other options, such as independent discovery via horse cart/bicycle, or take part in the spectacular Balloon Flight over Bagan (surcharge applied). At noon, we return to the cruise and set sail. We spend most of time sailing upstream. We will pass by river village to take a walk. We have dinner then enjoy a puppet show on the sundeck or in the village.

Then, we will return to to ship and keep our journey by sailing to Sagaing.  After the visit, we travel to Sagaing Hill where lie many monasteries and pagodas full of woodcarvings and spiritual art. Then, we come to the ancient capital of Amarapura visiting a traditional silk workshop, then observe the sunset at the 1.2-kilometer U Bein Bridge considered to be longest teak bridge in the world.

We will also have chance to stay inside the bell while it is rung. After that, we will visit local market where displays many  impressive arts from domestic as well as international artists.

Day 01 Mandalay (Gawein) - Mingun (L/D)

Check-in Time: At 12:00 AM, we embark on the cruise at Gawein pier and have welcoming cocktail in the Saloon.

Upstream to Mingun: At 12:30 PM, we start to set sail and have lunch at 13:00 PM. It will take about 2 hours sailing. Our English-speaking manager, or your private guide, will accompany the passengers while visiting at the Mingun Pagoda Complex.

We have dinner and stay the night at a sandbank midstream. We may also have oppurtunity to enjoy a drama and dance performance by the Mandalay School of Arts on the sundeck.

Day 02 Mingun - Sagaing - River Village (B/L/D)

Downstream to Sagaing: In the early morning, we take a 2-hour sailing downstream. As we cruise, we can enjoy the scenic views of the river, life near the riverbanks, and the sunrise sights over Sagaing Hill.

Visit Sagaing: After having breakfast, we travel to Sagaing with the guidance from our Cruise Manager or  your guide.

Downstream to Bagan: We set sail at 10:30 AM and have lunch at 13:00 PM. In the late afternoon, we reach Yandabo well known for both its special potteries craftsmanship and its historical aspect. In 1826, the Royal Burma and British Burma signed the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese War here. Later on, we spend the day sailing and stay the night near the river village of Shwe Nann Tint.

Day 03 Bagan (B)

River Village: In the early morning, we cruise downstream to Bagan. 

Check-Out Time: We relax and watch the sunrise near Bagan and get off the cruise around 9:30 AM at Aye Yar pier for RV Paukan cruises and Ye Kin pier for Partner cruises - Irrawaddy Voyages.

RV Paukan 2007 Policy

1. River Conditions Warning

The Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers are subject to seasonal rises and falls of water level. So that an alternative itinerary will be offered to Passenger in the case of water levels being too high or low.

Published itineraries are indication only and subject to sudden change. In such events alternative itineraries will be provided and we do our best to ensure that if a stop is missed we make up for it with another stop.

The ship’s manager and captain are jointly responsible for passengers’ comfort and safety.

Passengers must accept their decisions and instructions.

2. Deposit

To secure the booking a 30% deposit is required at the time of confirmation. The remaining balance will be made 70 days prior departure date.

If a booking is made less than 70 days, full fare payment must be made within 48 hours.

3. Cancellation Terms

The cancellation notice must be received in writing either by e-mail or fax. It will be effective on the date of receipt. Cancellation charges, per person, are based upon the date of cancellation:

Up to 71 days prior to departure: Deposit will be forfeited.

From 70-35 days: 50% of cruise fare

From 34 days to “no show”: 100% of cruise fare

4. Children Policy

Up to 2 years: Complimentary in the parent/guardian’s cabin.

3-12 Years: if the child stays in the cabin with one of the parents/guardians 50% of the twin-sharing rate. Upon request we can provide an Extra Bed at US$ 90 net per bed/ night.

5. Minimum Occupancy

For all departures should the occupancy be less than 10 passengers for Short Discovery Cruise and 12 passengers for Exploration and Discovery Cruises the Company reserves the right to cancel the cruise up to 60 days prior the departure date. A confirmation notice in writing will be released by the company to all booked clients and/or their agents within the deadline. In case of cancellation an alternative cruise will be offered and if not acceptable all down payments will be immediately refunded.

6. Insurance

We strongly advise travelers to purchase trip cancellation insurance. We also highly recommend guests to get international medical, baggage loss and delay insurance in the case of bad situations. Paukan Cruise will take no responsibility for lost or stolen personal belongings.
