Travelled down the Ayeyarwady in November. It was the most wonderful experience and one of the best trips I have ever done. It was worth the cost, I am saddened that it has ceased at present. The people are beautiful, friendly, humble and ready with a smile. Amazing scenery and history.

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Myanmar arranged by Myanmar River Cruises, a branch of this company. The holiday was tailor made for us to discover my Mother's origins as she was born in Yenanyaung, went to school in Rangoon (now Yangon) and fled Burma during WW2, from Rangoon to Mandalay, Maymo. So either side of a 7 day river cruise, we had a tailor made tour by air and road. Personal guides and air conditioned quality cars for the tailor made bits. The river cruise on the Sanctuary Ananda was 5 star luxury. The cabin, boat itself, all the staff, gourmet chef, spa and a superb guide with air conditioned transport were all faultless. Highly recommended.

We booked a 10 day river cruise from Mandalay to Yangoon with MYANMAR RIVER CRUISES and had a great time. The cruise was fantastic, Crew members so very friendly and service was top. We can warmly recommend this cruise to everyone with interest in cultur and amazing memories.

Just got back from the trip with The Strand Cruise and I am still in hangover. The ship is no doubt gorgeous but what made the whole trip so special to me is that every crew member went out of their way to ensure that I have the best first experience in Myanmar. Once they heard that we will depart Bagan really late in the evening, Mr. Neville (what a wonderful man) offered to help us keep our luggage so we could go out and do some sightsee. When we returned, they already had a room ready for us to freshen up and rest and then they got us a taxi ride. I have never felt this pampered before in my life, if you just want to kick back and relax then definitely go with The Strand Cruise.

We just returned from this Pandaw cruise which we enjoyed for the most part. There were 18 guests on board, aged 40’s to 70’s. It was a comfortable group.

THE BOAT: The RV Kha Byoo is a beautiful well maintained teak and brass river vessel in the style of the boats that serviced this area during the colonial era. There is a large sundeck area for relaxing and dinning, plus seating areas all around the boat and a bar area. You can enjoy a beverage and watch the scenery go by, and of course take a lot of pictures. The teak cabins are charming but smallish at 16 sq m. There is lots of storage and roomy separate toilet and shower areas. Beds are twin size, extremely comfortable and there are two pillows for each bed. 

THE FOOD: The onboard food was delicious and plentiful. Food is perfectly prepared and is asian/western fusion. There were occasionally western favorites such as cheese, salami and steak. There was even incredible Mandalay crispy duck. The cuisine is not oily, no hot chilies, and made with quality ingredients. Breakfast has a cereal and pastries buffet and eggs and meat (very crispy bacon-yum) cooked to order. There was also some delicious yogurt. We had eggs Benedict daily. Lunch is full buffet or salad buffet and set menu main dish which you order at breakfast. Dinner is set menu, ordered at breakfast. There are always choices for meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians. Coffee is extremely good and available all day along with free nuts and cookies. Complimentary cocktails are served with canapés at 6 pm, dinner is late for my taste at 7 pm. Some beverages are available (included) all day; cost (if any) depends on what kind of drink plan you have.

I used the agent Hang Tran from this company and absolutely loved her!!! I wanted 100% luxury and to be met at every airport and to have help with my slightly disabled husband. We went to Yangon and then did the Anawhatra river cruise from Mandalay to Bagan. Then we went back to Yangon for a little shopping. Hang made sure we had English speaking, and very intelligent guides and the Anawhatra was amazing. We booked the Royal suite and our friends booked a standard room. We loved our trip to Myanmar. The people are as sweet as they come. The locals and the river cruise company and Hang were just so very, very nice. It was a wonderful time. Thanks.

We had an unbelievable experience cruising on the Strand boat, with Nevil and his crew. The level of the service we received was out of this world. We would do that cruise again in a blink, as the attention to details makes a huge difference. We can only recommend it to anybody wanting to discover the Mandalay - Bagan way or reverse, in a very relaxing manner.

3 days at Inle Lake, 7 days on the Sanctuary Ananda Cruise and a couple of days in Yangon. 

WONDERFUL Holiday. Very well organized.

We felt very safe and secure, at all locations visited, and saw no signs of political unrest or military activity.

Excellent guides on day tours and a very good itinerary and tours off the Cruise Ship. 4 days on the river between Mandalay and Bagan is sufficient.

We didn't take the Hot Air Balloon ride in Bagan but would definitely do this on another visit.

Highly recommend Myanmar as a great location to visit with wonderful people, History and lots to see and do. We didn't do any " beach stuff " but others we met say the resorts at Ngapali are fantastic. Next time !!

We sailed from Mandalay to Shwe Paw Kyun and then back to Mandalay. Booked this cruise and the entire Myanmar holiday through Hang Tran. Faultless. Thank you. The cruise was the highlight of the entire holiday. We were looked after like kings and queens. One evening I went to my cabin to find a bubble bath had been run for me with rose petals floating in it. What can I say? French champagne featured heavily on our shore excursions!! The whole experience, amazing staff, wonderful food just blew our minds. A special thanks to Bosco who was so caring and helpful. I can’t recommend this highly enough. We will go back again.

Myanmar River Cruises organized a cruise for us on the Irrawady. The four day cruise was truly a once in a lifetime experience. As part of the cruise we traveled by Airplane, Luxury small cruise ship, pony driven carts and took looks. We experienced the best that his world has to offer (luxury accommodations, award winning food, personal attention) but witnessed some of the most primitive living standards (women washing clothes on the riverbank. We peeked into history and saw a pretty advanced civilization-Myanmar in the 11,12 and 13th centuries-and got a feel for the struggles that Myanmar is currently experiencing. We were helped in organizing the trip by Hang Tran who held our hand through every step of the trip, from help in getting our Visas to being flexible when a cruise was cancelled. I recommend the trip with the highest praise to anyone who is interested unseeing a truly exotic part of the world with expert guides.

I just returned from a Wonderful 10 day river cruise through Myanmar and a week in Vietnam. It was an absolutely wonderful trip and it was all made possible by the most talented travel agent Ms Hang Tran. Hang's experience and patience helped me step by step with booking the Irrawaddy Explorer for the fantastic cruise through Myanmar, obtaining all the necessary visa's and set up up for seamless travel between 4 different cities, fantastic hotels and interesting sites. In Vietnam, the trip to Ha Long Bay was also a terrific adventure and despite being on vacation for the New Year, Hang made sure my trip was always running smoothly. She even arranged (last minute) for my guide to arrive on a motor scooter to see the sites of Siagon...as Siagon should be seen! Hang Tran organized our wonderful 7 day adventure, It included a 5 day cruise on the Irrawaddy River aboard the luxury cruise ship, the Anawrahta. I recommend this ship highly. Built in 2017, I believe it is the newest ship on the river. This is not the ship to take if you want to rough it, but take it if you want to be spoiled in luxury. The staff was divine and the ship was magnificent. I would go straight to Ms.Tran if you are considering a trip to Myanmar. The land tours Ms. Tran organized in Yangon, Bagon and Mandalay were perfect also.

The hotels selected were excellent, Nila and Mo Mo our tour guides were wonderful and the whole trip was really well organised. Cost comparisons with members of other tour groups showed that we paid less than tours organised in America or Australia. Only problem was having to pay in US $’s from Australia, direct transfers to Myanmar not being possible for some reason.

Best cruise ! If you go to Burma river cruise is the best way to see the country from top to bottom. There is a tower in Bagan from which you can see whole beauty of most amazing place. Best cruise ! If you go to Burma river cruise is the best way to see the country from top to bottom. There is a tower in Bagan from which you can see whole beauty of most amazing place. For some reason tour guides don’t tell you about it, we only found out when we stayed at the hotel which is attached to the observation tower. It was most odd that tour guides don’t take you there or mention this place, may be for political reason I don’t know. But I would easily swap walking to another temple to this tower visit instead. What I am trying to say is that if you ever In Bagan just take a taxi and go there it’s only takes 10-15 min drive from the river. Yangon was not impressive, so I would recommend Bagan instead and all the way to Mandalay. Food was world class, stuff could not do enough to please us. Food possibly varies depending on cruise ship. The company we used provide impeccable service, we highly recommend booking your holiday through them.

A wonderful holiday brilliantly arranged by the above agents would recommend them to anyone. We had many flights and transfer and all went very smoothly. Very interesting place to visit and the people lovely.
